Lucid is a social mobile app powered by Stable Diffusion, made for creating, sharing, and exploring AI-generated art.
Lucid was designed to make AI image generation fun and accessible. Users can generate images with prompts, share their creations, explore other artists’ work, and take part in daily challenges.
Challenge
Despite the growing interest in AI art, creators face challenges such as:
Limited platforms for sharing AI-generated art in a social environment.
Lack of gamification or collaboration features to encourage consistent engagement.
Inefficient tools for creators to explore the capabilities of Stable Diffusion model on mobile apps.
Goal
Create a cross-platform mobile app where users can:
Generate AI art using Stable Diffusion model.
Share their creations and explore others’ work.
Build a creative network and participate in challenges.
We designed flows to make the core actions - generating, saving, sharing, and participating - smooth and intuitive. Challenge prompts, profile rewards, and collection views were integrated to keep users engaged.
Research & Analysis
I started with a lean canvas and competitor analysis to understand the landscape. I also mapped user journeys and conducted interviews to explore how people create, share, and engage with AI art.
Key findings:
Users wanted an easy-to-use app with tools to generate and enhance AI visuals.
Social and community elements - likes, comments, and leaderboards, were vital to fostering engagement.
Gamified features, such as badges or challenges, motivated users to create and interact more frequently.
We explored ideas that blended AI creation with social features - like styled prompts and art presets, a community feed, and creative challenges to inspire users.
Result
Lucid helped redefine how people interact with Stable Diffusion - not just as a generator, but as a creative companion. The core features included:
Prompt-based image generation
Daily creative challenges (e.g. Odd One Out)
Gamified profile with badges and stats
Personal gallery and image history
Community feed and inspiration board
Working on Lucid helped me explore how AI tools can become more human-centered and emotionally engaging. I learned how to balance technical capabilities with user needs, and how to design playful, mobile-first experiences around complex systems like Stable Diffusion.
Although the app didn’t launch publicly, it was an important internal prototype that shaped thinking around creative UX for generative tools.
